Introduction to KSRI by Director

THE KUPPUSWAMI SASTRI RESEARCH INSTITUTE (KSRI) is a very old, reputed institution, dedicated to extensive work in areas of Sanskrit and related Indology research. The institution has been operating very creditably since 1945, contributing substantially through its core activities; steadily progressing in achieving its stated Vision and Mission – which in a nutshell is “preserving” Sanskrit and related Indology research, in an all encompassing manner – establishing, institutionalizing, propagating, consolidating and creating perpetuity of the great Sanskrit heritage.

KSRI is well known in its area of operations in India and around the world. KSRI has associations with the renowned MADRAS UNIVERSITY and many other Indian and international academic institutions. KSRI is an enabler of research for Indian and foreign scholars in their Doctorate pursuits.

KSRI operates out of the famous Sanskrit College Compound in the traditional Mylapore in Chennai, India – the compound houses the historic Sanskrit College, a sister organization along with KSRI and a few related educational facilities.

KSRI maintains an in-house library of some 60,000 books in its area of activities and a set of rare palm manuscripts; some 12,000 of the books in the library are considered old and rare. KSRI will soon digitize its library and offer online access of this wealth of wisdom to the world.
