A Dose of Inspiration: Who are we and Why are we here?

Everyone thinks that he knows who he is, and he wants to know everything else. Hence all our
education is centered on trying to find out everything else other than who we are? The irony is more
one tries to know about everything else more ignorant one becomes since he begins to learn that
what he knows is very little in relation to what he does not know. He becomes humble.
On the other hand, everyone thinks he knows himself and introduces himself as ‘I am = this’, where
‘this’ stands for his biodata, sometimes running pages and pages. Vedanta says this is a fundamental
mistake since ‘I am’ is the subject, and any ‘this’ is an object. Subject ‘I’ cannot be the object ‘this.’
This talk emphasizes how to discover who ‘I am’ and why am I here. The talk forms the central
teaching of our scriptures. How to discover oneself who He is and why he is here?
