O thou, the knower of all the scriptures! The expounder of the of the great Upanisadic treasure-trove! On thy faultless feet I meditate in my heart. Be thou my refuge O master, Sankara.

Shankara’s Spiritual Brilliance by Babaji Bob Kindler

Born in the light of the Atman, coming to full remembrance of his divinity at 6 years of age, recalling all the scriptures and their wisdom at 8 years old, Shankara was the full incarnation of Siva whose guru, Govindapada, was a reincarnation of Patanjali, the Father of Yoga, some 500 years earlier. Govindapada’s guru was none other than Gaudapada, the fully illumined Advaita Vedantist, whose incarnation helped India rise out of the fallen Buddhist era to reclaim her original tradition of the Vedas and Upanisads that, itself, had been in a poor state of affairs at the time of Lord Buddha’s birth in India around 550 BCE. In this two-part class series, Shankara’s life will be taken up, centering around the main events that transpired through his 32 years of life in the physical frame. Additionally, some of his key teachings will be presented, giving all a fuller vision of who he was and his great import to the world of religion and philosophy.
